Allyson Butler is a midwife serving expectant families throughout Clark County. She became a midwife in 2009 in order to provide access to comprehensive, research-based, affordable, compassionate, and safe care for women desiring a natural pregnancy and birth. Allyson began her work in women's health as a birth doula supporting families in hospital and home births in Las Vegas. Assisting couples as they transform into parents is what fuels Allyson's passion for midwifery. Her philosophy is that pregnancy and birth are normal, healthy processes and that women should be supported physically and emotionally throughout their journey to motherhood. Allyson's enthusiasm, dedication, and love for her work are clear to all who speak to her about her homebirth midwifery practice.
Allyson works with each client individually to promote a healthy pregnancy and she is committed to providing education to help the mother make informed decisions about her own care. Together with her clients, Allyson carefully monitors the progress of the pregnancy and labor and recommends appropriate management if complications arise.
Allyson has completed the coursework for her midwifery degree through the National College of Midwifery, a program which combined didactic knowledge with clinical skills. In addition to this program, she completed a three year apprenticeship with homebirth midwives in the Las Vegas area. She graduated from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas with a Master's degree in 2008 and from the University of West Florida with a Bachelor's degree in 2006. Allyson maintains certifications in neonatal resuscitation and adult/infant/child CPR.
It is Allyson's passion for midwifery and her enthusiasm for the families she works with that fuels her desire to continually research and learn as much as possible regarding the latest issues in midwifery care, in order to best support her pregnant mom's and their families in making health care decisions. Allyson says, "Being a midwife is my life's calling. It is an honor and a privilege to provide collaborative care for women and their families during such a transformative time in their lives." She lives in Henderson with her partner and son.
